EWB is the movement of a social change...

The beginning:

This project began after a discussion between a young man and woman from the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Khartoum. The debate was about the education and the difficulties and our role as a youth in developing it. After that a group has been created in the Facebook to support the idea… That was in January 2011.

Re distributing the old school books and the school tools:

At the start there were five active members from Engineering and Economics faculties at the University of Khartoum. Our goal was to collect 1000 school books and re-distribute them to schools in need. We also contacted a large number of schools and neighborhoods and families and friends. In a short period to time “from February up to May” we were able to collect more than 5000 school books, lots of school tools e.g. pencils, chalks… etc. we react those aids in schools of 8 different areas of Sudan. Those areas were:
  1. northern State
  2. The state of northern kordofan
  3. Khartoum state.
  4. Aljazeerah state
  5. White Nile state
  6. regions of Almoglad and Abyei
  7. Red sea state
  8. state of River Nile

Schools maintenance

After finishing the operation of re-distributing the school books in June 2011. Some members suggested that we should go to school and rebuild it by ourselves. On Friday 1st of July we went to Dar Elargm School in the camps land in Suba and Elsabeel School in Alsameer village at Elkamlien Locality. We were 28 volunteers. We divided our self in two teams. Ten of us in Al arqam School and the rest went to Alsabeel School. Before the sun set, the two teams finished building new black boards, painting the indoor classes and about 50% of out door due the weak budget. After uploading the photos of that day on Facebook. The excitation of the youth increased incredibly. In less than 5 days we were able to collect 800 Sudanese Pounds and we went back again to the Alsameer school to complete the work. That was 8th july after one week from the first visit. This time we were 64 members. In only 5 hours we complete the whole work except for the outdoor fence –due to technical issues- and we planted 45 tree inside the school and we maintained 50 benches.

The Therapeutic Day

Alribat University helped by providing medical lab equipment and volunteers of the laboratories College. A unit of 6 doctors from the Omdurman hospital volunteered . And pharmacists and a dentist also volunteered. By the end of the day the 135 students were medically examined and provided with needed medicines and vaccines.

And the rapid increase of our membership, we began formally the process of «soluble» in the community. “Education without Borders” depends on a system of decentralized action to achieve their objectives. Before Begin to work in any school, we contacted the local community surrounding the activation to Work with us in the process known as the «integration». ....This way, we guarantee a team of «Education without Borders » from the region's youth to continue the development of education and the environment in his area by theme self, and confined to help us in the future operations by logistical and technical support. And that same team is ready to participate in the process of developing a new neighboring area if The need called, and so on. And will increase the rate of diffusion of «Education without Borders» little by little, and, after Certain period of time, the teams of «Education Without Borders» will cover different large areas with densities high population. And facilitate the dissemination of ideas and programs to the community by these local teams. Education without Borders Is a purely youth effort......... Only a group of young people have vigilant conscience and a desire to build a better future for all of us. All programs that had been implemented and in the process of implementation is a result of our discussions and thoughts. Even the financing of these programs has been through self-support only. Although the majority of us are still just students in universities, recent graduates or new employees in various disciplines..... But We are supporting these programs through our own individual contributions As much as possible for all of us. The idea is as long as we believe in something, we can Implemented it on the ground even if we don't have the reasonable financial resources.
